Ryland Turns Three

Ryland has had a pretty busy last couple of days celebrating his third birthday! On Thursday - the 28th - he officially turned three. He opened up a few presents in the morning, one being a baseball piggy bank with some cash in his card. Then we spent the day having a picnic and miniature golfing. Ryland did awesome golfing - we thought he would get bored after a few holes - but he LOVED it. That evening Grammy and Poppy came over to celebrate and have some birthday dinner by request of the birthday boy - mac-n-cheese, carrots and strawberries was the menu. His cake - chocolate with chocolate frosting.

This past Saturday was his birthday party. We had planned to have it at a local park but had to switch it to our house due to the weather. Who would have thought in Prescott - typically you can always count on the weather here :( Either way, Ryland had a great time having all his friends over.

We can hardly believe that Ryland is already three. He has turned into such a sweet little boy. We couldn't ask for a better kid. He has become quite the thinker - has a way of getting around the rules (which he gets from his daddy). He's starting to ask alot of questions, everything is always "what or why?" even if he hears what you're saying - it's a constant battle of questions and answers - some days it's exhausting. But at the same time, it's really neat to see him interested and learning. He's definitely all boy - likes to get messy and gravitates toward dirt. He's loud and animated. Likes to roar in your face and dip his food in his milk. Every night he wants us to make up a story to tell him and then wants us to lay by him before he falls asleep. He's still a cuddler - which I love. Every morning he comes into our room and jumps on our bed - he goes for 0-10 in a matter of seconds. And that begins our day. He has a funny evil little smile when he knows he's doing something he's not supposed to. When he's happy - he has the most infectious laugh. He loves playing hide-n-seek and having surprises "dessert" after dinner. He can sit and cut paper for hours into tiny little pieces. He is such a sweet big brother - is always up for making Kyla laugh and is there to comfort her when she's upset. At the same time, he has become the toy snatcher - and loves taking everything that she's playing with - luckily she's still too little to notice and it doesn't really matter to her - she just loves being with him. He's definitely a momma's boy in the kitchen - loves to make smoothies and anything sweet. He's definitely a daddy's boy when it comes to horsing around. He loves playing tackle football and peeing in the rocks - hey, I guess that's what boys do. He is such a joy, can be a little booger at times but we have had so much fun watching him grow up. We can't wait to see what the next three years will bring.
