Camping in Williams
So...I used to love camping. It was a past time that Ryan introduced me to when we started dating and we have alot of fun camping memories that we share together. But camping with little kids is a whole other story. You have to deal with peeing/pooping out in the woods, making meals outdoors which the kids won't even eat other than chips and smores, skipped naps, going to bed late, waking up early, the heat, the DUST, the snakes, the messiness, Reid licking his dirty fingers and getting dirt in his eyes, and so on. It usually takes alot to convince this momma to go through such extreme measures. But in this case it took about two cocktails and I was game - thanks to Ryan. So we packed up our three-person tent for our family of 5 and went out to Williams for 2 days of camping. And it turned out to be just as hard as I imagined :) The payoff = seeing how much fun the kids had! They truly loved the outdoors, exploring, getting dirty, riding the rangers, shooting bb guns, and having a blast with their friends.
Check out Reid's boots - Day 1 on the left - Day 2 on the right.
The boys caught some frogs and
fried up some frog legs for dinner - gross!
Kids watched a movie outside late night.
There were alot of these white butterflies flying around every morning.
Kyla kept trying to catch one and finally did right before we left.

Summer Fun
We are halfway through our summer vacation and I haven't even posted any
pictures yet. I've actually been really bad about taking pics lately -
just keep forgetting to take my camera along or I'm too busy to even
take my camera out. The kids have been having a great summer so far. We
have been very busy - swimming a ton, going on hikes, VBS, and going to
the summer movies at our theater. Ryland has also been going to karate
and Kyla has been attending gymnastics (which I have no pictures of). My
fear is that the kids have learned that this type of busy lifestyle has
become our norm and they wake up every morning asking what fun things we're
doing and where we're going for the day. It's exhausting packing waters,
snacks and lunches everyday - but the kids are LOVING it. I don't have too many activities captured but below are a few from hiking and hanging out by the pool.
We've been looking for a cool hiking trail to take guests when they visit and we finally found one! It is right in the middle of the Granite Dells among all the boulders which we love. We did not hike the entire trail but stopped midpoint at a little creek and tiny waterfall. The kids loved climbing on all the rocks and even saw a snake (which made Ryland have a little trouble sleeping that night).
The rest are some pictures of the kids by the pool. Ryland is doing awesome in the water - loves swimming and has really progressed since last summer. Kyla is getting more comfortable - will jump in the water and even go under. And little Reid is a fish - he has no fear and loves to run and jump in the water.

Star Wars Party
We just finished celebrating another wonderful birthday here. Ryland turned 6 at the end of May but due to our busy schedules - we were not able to have his party until yesterday. "Star Wars" was the theme of choice this year and we had so much fun planning - coming up with fun food names and making lightsabers out of pool noodles. I finally got a sewing machine here - so I was excited to start my first project and made all the kids Jedi robes out of pillow cases. The kids had a blast going through their Jedi training obstacle course and fighting eachother. Ryland was thrilled with everything and it was great to see him so happy.
Ryland has grown up so much this past year. He is such a sweet and sensitive boy, very respectful of others and just has the kindest heart. He has loved going to Kindergarten this year and is really into doing schoolwork, reading and math. He loves to explore the outdoors and learn about animals. His favorite show to watch is Wild Kratts. His favorite thing to eat is any breakfast type food and will often even request it for dinner. He's still a pretty picky eater but is getting better at trying different foods. He is very observant and has the best memory. Ryland is a great big brother and good friend. I love that he is still a momma's boy and will often cuddle with me - in return for my tickles of course :)
